REVAMP OF SEA ROAD AREA SHOULD HELP MAKE FOR A 'CLASSIER' CLEETHORPES SEAFRONT

Blank canvas - Sea Lane enhancement works due to start this week

IN the run-up to Christmas, a major revamp of the street scene on Cleethorpes seafront will continue.

The aim is to make the Sea Road area pedestrian-friendly and to improve connections between the promenade and town centre.

Currently, the area is a bit of a tatty tangle, but this project should bring a touch of class.

The  mini-roundabout outside the pier will be replaced, and a central island will be installed near the new Alexandra Road roundabout.

There will be additional paving works on both sides of Sea Road to complement  that which has already been done.

A North East Lincolnshire Council spokesperson insists: "The project will utilise high-quality materials that have been selected for their durability and suitability for the coastal environment."

Vehicle and pedestrian access will be maintained throughout the enhancement project, though temporary traffic lights will be employed to control traffic as and when required.

This phase of the project is due to be completed by spring year in time for the main tourism season.

The intention is to have the project completed by Easter next year
