Lia Nici - early decision
GRIMSBY MP Lia Nici has been one of the first to signal approval for the Government's proposed three-Tier system for tackling the pandemic.
Even ahead of today's Commons debate, she announced how she would vote.
First thing this morning, she took to Twitter to post this tweet:
"I will be voting today to support the Tier system.
"The lockdown has brought down the infection rate in North East Lincolnshire by everyone working together.
"By gradually easing restrictions as we enter Tier 3, it will hopefully
come down further."
The Grimsby News says: In her single-mindedness, Grimsby’s MP has come across as somewhat uncaring and unwilling to consider viewpoints different from her own. Her stance over the Tiers system may be perfectly reasonable, but she should at least have acknowledged the intense distress the new arrangement will, in numerous ways, make to thousands of her constituents. What is more, with her early morning pre-debate tweet, she has flouted one of the first rules of democracy - you listen to all sides of the argument before stating how you intend to vote. As such, she has shown a lack of courtesy to her parliamentary colleagues by disregarding their opinions even before they have expressed them. Ms Nici has come to the issue with a closed mind - not a particularly admirable approach.
