BLEAKSCAPE NO MORE - PLANTERS WILL SOON BE FILLED WITH CHEERFUL FLOWERS AND SHRUBS

Not a pretty sight - the empty planters

AN assurance has come that four planters at the north end of Cleethorpes Promenade will soon be planted with suitable flowers and shrubs.

This should brighten up a bleak part of the prom which is a target destination for walkers on weekdays and at weekends alike.

There is also a need to safeguard the integrity of a main drain that runs  under the pathway.

According to NELC, it also "became apparent that the cars, in particular their headlights, were scaring the redshank, turnstone, knot and other shorebirds that often seek to roost on the whale's tail rock groyne".

It is not yet known what flowers and shrubs might be planted. Keep watching!

It's been a busy day - redshank enjoying a bit of shut-eye on one of the whale's tail groyne rocks
