GRIMSBY PUPILS SENT HOME BECAUSE BOILER FAULT SHUTS DOWN HEATING AND HOT WATER

THERE has been a day off school for pupils at Grimsby's Havelock Academy.

However, it is nothing to do with Covid.

A fault in the boiler system meant there was no hot water nor heating.

However, by early afternoon the fault had been identified, and engineers were on the case.

The school says it will reopen tomorrow.

The Grimsby News says: Many will be unimpressed that, after so much disruption brought about by the pandemic, a school loses more precious learning time by closing in entirety for such a feeble reason. Time was when the show would go on even in sub-zero temperatures. Pupils and teachers never complained - they just got on with the lessons. Today has been unseasonably sunny and mild. The heating is not even required. Yet Havelock Academy goes into total shutdown. Do we really want to produce a generation of wimpy kids?
