THAT WEEKEND DEMONSTRATION IN CLEETHORPES: LIA V MELANIE

Anti-racism demonstrators on Cleethorpes Prom on Saturday afternoon

GRIMSBY MP Lia Nici and her predecessor, Melanie Onn, obviously do not see eye-to-eye on Saturday's  anti-racism  demo in Cleethorpes - or, at least, on the wisdom of holding it during a pandemic.

Below is the message on Twitter from Ms Nici:

"Please do NOT join the protests in #Grimsby and #Cleethorpes today.

"Black lives do matter, but so do the lives of people of all skin colours.

"Taking part in mass gatherings in a pandemic is not responsible or caring towards your fellow humans."

And this is what Ms Onn had to say:

Pleased I joined PEACEFUL #blacklivesmatter protest in Cleethorpes.

"Rly good turnout & an important issue 4 our area 2 show its support 4, not enough is done 2 address the problems that exist.

"Heartening 2C so many young people."

Well, you didn't expect them to agree, did you?
