COUNCIL'S DEPUTY CHIEF TO SPEARHEAD BOUNCEBACK FROM PANDEMIC LOCKDOWN

In charge: Jo Hewson

A TASKFORCE has been set up by North East Lincolnshire Council to spearhead recovery from lockdown.

It is being led by the authority's deputy chief executive, Jo Hewson, who has been given a huge portfolio of responsibilities.

These are the topics to be covered by the so-called Recovery Task Group (RTG):

• Local economy and business support (including a “green” recovery)
• Adult social care and protection of the vulnerable
• Children, families and schools
• Environment and regulatory
• Community resilience and engagement
• Financial resilience, reform and renewal (including organisational
development)
• Public health and health protection
• CCG - local health and care system

In a statement, Ms Hewson's boss, NELC chief executive Rob Walsh, says: "It is important to stress that we have not fully moved out of the response phase the Covid-19 emergency.

"However, attention must also be  given in  supporting residents, businesses and communities to look ahead.

"We have to prepare for what will be a range of different ways of working, engaging and going about our daily lives."

Ms Hewson has been pledged back-up from other senior officers on the RTG's long (and probably winding) road ahead.

What about Ms Hewson's other responsibilities as NELC's director of children's services?
She will still have to carry out these as well.

Give that lady a pay-rise!
