THE spotlight is set to fall on the Victorian balconies on Cleethorpes seafront.

North East Lincolnshire Council is keen to assess not just their condition but also how they can be enhanced to make a more significant contribution to the street scene and its heritage.

Dating back to the early 1900s, the balconies consist of cast iron columns and decorative balustrades.

The castings were fabricated at foundries in Scotland and front a total of 26 properties.

A survey is due to start on June 22 and expected to take four days during which time special measures will be adopted to safeguard passers-by.
