VOLUNTEERS sought for the big Cleethorpes sand dunes spruce-up!
The dunes provide a special habitat for rare orchids and other native plant species, but they need looking after.
North East Lincolnshire Council’s ecology team is calling for volunteers to help in raking and removing cut vegetation to improve the growing conditions in the sand dunes behind the boating lake.
The session is set to take place next Monday 20 December from 10am to 2.30pm.
Says a NELC spokesperson: "If you have a passion for nature conservation or just enjoy being outdoors and are willing to lend hand, your help will be greatly appreciated.
"If you would like to join in, please let us know by emailing greenandblue@nelincs.gov.uk.
Volunteers can join in for a couple of hours or all day. All you need is a pair of sturdy boots, your enthusiasm (and possibly a packed lunch).
The team will start at the leisure centre end of the dunes at 10am.
