Planners have given the go-ahead for renovation of The Mermaid fish and chip shop next to the railway station on Cleethorpes seafront. Deteriorating windows, doors, signage, guttering and bird spikes will all either be repaired or replaced. The application submitted by Charles Crawford was approved under delegated powers by North East Lincolnshire Council case officer Emily Davidson without the need for consideration by the authority's planning committee. The attractive building is Grade II Listed and rich in heritage.
