FLY-TIPPING AND ANTI-SOCIAL PROMPT CLOSURE OF TWO VILLAGE LAYBYS

TWO laybys in North East Lincolnshire have been closed following persistent incidents of anti-social behaviour and fly-tipping.

Vehicular access is now barred at the laybys in Great Coates Road, Healing, and Riby Road, Stallingborough.

Ward councillors have made highway officials aware of a number of instances of anti-social behaviour and fly-tipping at these locations which has led to the decision.

Says Cllr Stewart Swinburn, NELC's portfolio holder for environment and transport: "Fly-tipping and anti-social behaviour impacts adversely on our communities and ruins the surroundings.

"Working with our ward councillors and using their local knowledge of their wards is key to our efforts in stamping out these sorts of issues.

Wolds ward councillor Cllr David Hasthorpe comments: "Anti-social behaviour and fly-tipping will not be tolerated, and we will do all we can to prevent this from happening."

Gates and a bund (mound of material to block access) are in place to prevent unauthorised vehicular access and reduce instances of fly-tipping and anti-social behaviour at both sites.
