HOW DID PAINTING OF JOCKEY LESTER PIGGOT END UP DUMPED ON CLEETHORPES SEAFRONT?

Soaking up the rain - the two paintings propped up by a privet hedge

HOW did two paintings come to be dumped outside a shelter on Cleethorpes seafront?

The paintings were spotted this morning on the other side of the road from the King's Royal pub.

The larger one is what appears to be a rural scene of a windmill, possibly in Holland. It has been removed from its frame. It is not thought to be a Rembrandt.

The other - more interesting but very badly damaged - is a study by acclaimed sporting and wildlife artist Peter Deighan of  illustrious jockey Lester Piggott riding to victory on Ardross in  the 1982 Ascot Gold Cup.

Where did the paintings come from? Had they been stolen, then dumped?

Can anyone solve the mystery?
