£440! |
TWO rare Mariners football programmes from yesteryear sold for well above estimate at an online auction of football memorabilia.
Both were expected to sell for up to £300, but the bidding for both soared higher before the hammer came down.
The programme for the F.A. Cup semi-final, Wolverhampton Wanderers v Grimsby Town, played at Old Trafford on March 25, 1939, reached a staggering £440.
Meanwhile, the programme for the Arsenal v Grimsby Town F.A. Cup semi-final programme played at Huddersfield Town's Leeds Road ground on March 21, 1936, reached £360.
Auctioneers Graham Budd have not revealed the identity of the individual(s) who bought the programmes.
