COUNCIL PLEDGE TO CONSULT WITH RESIDENTS OVER PROPOSED CAR PARK EXTENSION

An extended car park is unlikely to enhance the view for residents of nearby houses

A PLEDGE to consider the views of residents has been made by North East Lincolnshire Council over its controversial proposal to add a first storey to the  Grant Street car park in Cleethorpes.

Subject to the authority granting itself planning permission, NELC will borrow approximately £3.5-million to build the extension, with the monies being repaid from revenue generated by parking income.

This was approved at yesterday's meeting of the council's cabinet.

The council’s regeneration partner, Equans - formerly known as Engie - is due to manage and oversee the project.

A contractor is yet to be appointed, and works will be planned to take place outside the peak season.
