PLANNING GO-AHEAD FOR ALL-WEATHER SPORTS PITCH AT GRIMSBY PRIMARY SCHOOL

PUPILS at a Grimsby school can soon look forward to playing games on an all-weather sports pitch.

North East Lincolnshire Council have approved an application for a porous artificial-grass pitch, measuring 23 metres by 13 metres, at Springfield primary school off Springwood Crescent.

Surrounding it will be a perimeter fence  (up  to a maximum height of two metres) of steel-galvanised powder coated mesh with matching posts.

The school consulted residents in advance, and it is understood no objections were raised.

The pitch will not be overly prominent in the street scene, and the closest neighbour lives  14 metres away.

Any noise is unlikely to be any greater than during break from lessons or outdoor PE classes.

The pitch will be open during school hours only, and its use will be exclusively for Springfield pupils.

The school's motto, incidentally, is: "Care, Collaboration, Challenge".
