ASSURANCES ON WELFARE OF NESTING SWANS IN ADVANCE OF GRIMSBY RIVER SURVEY

SPECIALIST survey work is taking place on a stretch of Grimsby's  River Freshney this week to determine how the riverside section of the West Haven Maltings buildings can be stabilised.

Contractors are also gathering data on the river and its condition where it runs alongside the building’s southern elevation.

An assurance has been given that there will be no disturbance to currently  nesting swans or any other birdlife such as sedge and reed warblers.

The work will take a day and is an important assessment as specialists plan the structure’s renovation.

North East Lincolnshire Council purchased the historic West Haven Maltings, on Garth Lane, as part of monies released through the Great Grimsby Town Deal.

It is working with its regeneration partner, Engie, to restore the buildings which will be developed as a new youth zone by the national charity, OnSide.
