AN assurance that polling booths will be safe has today come from North East Lincolnshire Council in advance of this year's local elections.
Despite the pandemic, it is still the intention that these should go ahead on Thursday May 6.
Says a spokesperson: "We are thinking about arrangements for these elections right now.
"However voters choose to cast their votes, they will be able to do so safely.
"At the polling station, voters can expect many of the measures they have become used to in shops and banks, such as hand sanitiser, floor markings and face masks."
However, they also have the option to apply to vote by post or by proxy.
To arrange to vote by post or by proxy, download an application form from the council’s website at www.nelincs.gov.uk.
Those who do not have access to the internet can request an application form by calling the council’s contact centre at 01472 324160.
