Strong interest in Gleeson's Grimsby development |
SOLID trading has been reported by housebuilder Gleeson which has developments in Grimsby and Immingham.
Pre-tax profits of £20.3-million were up by more than 50 per cent in the half-year results posted this month by the Sheffield-based company.
Gleeson Homes sold 951 homes during the six months to December 31, 2020, with the average selling price up 9.1 per cent to £140,600.
Says chief executive James Thomson: "This was a very robust performance reflecting the strong demand - even in difficult times - for the high-quality, low-cost homes that Gleeson Homes builds for first-time buyers, many of whom are key workers.

On a more cautious note, he added: "Although we have performed strongly through this difficult period and remain optimistic for the future, there
is still considerable uncertainty around the timing and speed of economic recovery amidst the ongoing
pandemic."
