TWIST & FLIP TEAM POISED TO SPRING FORWARD WITH NEW GYMNASTICS ACADEMY IN GRIMSBY

A NEW dedicated gym academy is on the cards for Grimsby.

Husband-and-wife team Nicky and Mark Nicol have submitted a proposal  to convert the former Doric Anderton premises in King Edward Street to the Twist & Flip Gymnastics Academy.

In their planning application to North East Lincolnshire Council, they state: "Our family owned business runs with a  core group of qualified coaches, passionate about providing gymnastics to young people of all ages and abilities.

"The academy’s ethos of inclusivity, where every child matters, regardless of ability, provides gymnastics from preschool to competitive levels in safe, friendly and professional environments.

"We host a variety of competitions for our members and wider area, providing opportunities for children to showcase their skills."

"Coming out of Covid, we think this is the right time to grow, and we need to move into new premises."

They continue: "Gymnastics is the foundation for any sport, thereby building determination, communication, confidence, along with flexibility, strength, coordination and balance."

For the past eight years, Twist & Flip has been renting space in the Grimsby Business Centre having previously operated in a school library out of hours.

The business was established in September 2011.

A planning decision is expected to be made in winter.
