TAX DRIVER LICENCE WHO FAILED TO DISCLOSE DRUGS OFFENCE HAS LICENCE REVOKED

THE licence of a North East East Lincolnshire taxi driver has been revoked for failure to disclose a previous ban imposed after having been convicted for driving under the influence of drugs.

The identity of the driver - and whether male or female - has not been revealed.

At a meeting of NELC's hackney carriage sub-committee, councillors voted to revoke the driver’s licence due to the seriousness of the offence.

Says committee chairman Cllr Stephen Harness: "We take these matters very seriously.

"Passenger safety is our top priority.

"The majority of taxi drivers in our area take their job very seriously and abide by the highest of standards."
