Grimsby's MP seen here with Environment Secretary George Eustice |
GREAT Grimsby MP Lia Nici has declared receipt of a payment of £1,300 for supplying video production services.
Her client in July this year was Our Big Picture Ltd, of Grimsby Road, Laceby.
The total length of the contract was 85 hours.
Also showing up in Ms Nici's declaration of interests are receipt of two donations of £10,000 from Mr Ian McVeigh.
Her donors last year included
Name of donor: Dukehill Services (£4,000), the Carlton Club (£2,500), Mr David Ross (£3,000), Stalbury Trustees (£5,000)
* The basic annual salary of a Member of Parliament in the House of Commons is currently £81,932 plus travel and other expenses.
The Grimsby News says: Considering her election pledge to devote all her time to working for her constituents, it is disappointing that the MP has now put herself out for hire as a freelance video producer. So far, there has just been the single contract but the precedent has been set for further feathering of her nest with additional income streams. The purposes of the other donations also require clarification. To what extent, if any, is the MP now beholden to the donors? In the interests of transparency - a core principle of public life - Ms Nici should issue a statement.
