WHAT A CHEEK! BOATING LAKE PIGEON WAS MOST PUT OUT BY UNINVITED SANDPIPER

The sheer effrontery of it! This woodpigeon at Cleethorpes Boating Lake was taken aback on Tuesday evening when its personal space was invaded by a highly unexpected arrival - a common sandpiper. Despite its name, the latter - a small wading species - is far from being common. Indeed, it is a very rare visitor to the boating lake. The bird seemed unperturbed by the presence of the much larger pigeon which, after a few seconds’ worth of indignation, waddled off in high dudgeon.
