GRIMSBY MAN WAS LINESMAN IN 1905 FA CUP FINAL BETWEEN ASTON VILLA AND NEWCASTLE

Pictured is action from a FA Cup Final played in 1905 in the grounds of the old Crystal Palace in South London. The team in the striped shirts is not Grimsby Town but Newcastle United whose opponents are Aston Villa. However, there is a slight local connection - the honour of being one of the linesmen for this prestigious match fell to Mr W. H. Bellamy of Grimsby.  Villa, incidentally, won the match 2-0.

Note: The venerable Mr Bellamy gets a mention in this new e-book, available (price £1) in the Kindle book store.
