The Sea Road construction site - redevelopment will have to await re-routing of gas and electricity infrastructure
AT the start of the peak season, up to 10 days' traffic disruption loom for the busiest part of Cleethorpes seafront - the roundabout outside the pier.
From next Monday 22 July for up to 10 days, Cadent Gas will be on the Sea Road construction site in order to re-route their underground pipeline.
The work is being done so that the pipeline will be clear of the foundations for the proposed amenities building.
Says North East Lincolnshire Council: "There will be traffic management at the Sea Road, Central Prom and North Prom junction.
"This will reduce the lanes to single width, and temporary pedestrian crossing lights will be installed at the zebra crossings.
"The footpath at the corner of Sea Road / Central Prom will also have a minor localised diversion through the works.
"The work will take place in the day time, from 7:30am to 5pm and there will be noise.
"No changes are expected for bus or coach services.".
Northern Powergrid will also be diverting their electricity cables in the coming months for the same reason.
As soon as dates are known for this, they will be published.
The Grimsby News says: "Poor show by North East Lincolnshire Council. The redevelopment project has been on the cards not just for months but for years. Why were these works not carried out last winter? Or the winter before that? Or the winter before that?
