Can you detect Melanie Onn MP amid her new pals in Westminster? |
IT is not often that Grimsby and Cleethorpes's Labour MP Melanie Onn is likely to feature in the Conservative-leaning newspaper, The Daily Telegraph.
But she makes an appearance on Page 6 of today's edition.
Can you detect her smiling face (or at least part of it)?
It is proving a mega-busy week for Ms Onn as she sorts out somewhere to live in London where her parliamentary responsibilities are likely to keep her the next part of five years.
She also needs to recruit staff for her office in the Commons which she may have to share with another Labour MP.
A new official website will also be required.
Back in Grimsby, the welfare and education of her son are paramount, and she has a pet labrador of which she is immensely fond.
One early perk of having been elected is that her parliamentary welcome pack is thought to have included a wi-fi tablet computer to keep her abreast at all times of affairs of state.
Because it now also embraces Cleethorpes as well as Grimsby, Ms Onn's reshaped constituency poses extra challenges of oversight.
Her forthright approach to being an MP is unlikely to be radically different from her Conservative predecessor, Lia Nici, but she has pledged to be more "visible" in the constituency.
Yes, that's her in the middle - you can tell by the eyes |
