Is a rental target of £55,000 per annum too steep for empty premises of much-missed Cleethorpes store?

 

There is no word yet of any replacement occupant(s) for the former Wilko store at 48  St Peter's Avenue in Cleethorpes. The much-missed store closed in 2022, setting off a domino effect which ended with the collapse of the 400-store chain in August last year. The spacious premises, which also include a self-contained three-bedroomed flat, are now on the books of commercial property agents Scotts who  have indicated  a guide rent of £55,000 per annum. Given current weak confidence in the retail sector that seems a target that might not readily be achieved.
