Say farewell to this veteran ash tree off Springfield Road in Scartho. Although it is covered by a tree preservation order, it is soon to be felled to make way for a new sports pitch. North East Lincolnshire Council today approved an application by Grimsby Rugby Club for its removal. A condition has been imposed that it is replaced with a smaller walnut tree, presumably elsewhere on the site.
