Cleethorpes seafront takes a mid-January battering from unusually high tides and winds from the Arctic

Felled by water and wind - much of the 'shipwreck' has come a cropper

UNUSUALLY high tides lifted by northerly winds are expected to clatter Cleethorpes beach and  promenade for much of the rest of this week.

One of the casualties on Sunday evening was the unusual 'shipwreck' feature on the  south beach which was almost demolished by the ferocity of waves.

Meanwhile, near the old Wonderland building, the waves carried shingle off the beach and on to the north promenade.

Sadly, near the beach chalets, a freshly dead seal was washed up.

Crunchy underfoot - shingle on North Promenade

A sad demise for this seal washed up near the chalets
