National Grid have released this map to give a rough indication of their preferred route |
FIRST details have been published of a proposed pylon route running from Grimsby to Walpole in North Norfolk.
National Grid acknowledges that the huge project is controversial, but says it is necessary to connect up with the growing number of windfarms proposed for the southern section of the North Sea as the UK weans itself off fossil fuels.
The company says overhead lines are much cheaper than if installed underground. Checking and repairing transmission faults would also be less complicated.
Pending more information being released, a consultation event is to be held between 11am and 5pm on Saturday February 24 at the Oaklands Hall Hotel, off Barton Street, Laceby.
The two sections that would affect our area are from Grimsby West to Barnoldby-le-Beck and from Barnoldby-le-Beck to North Thoresby.

Sadly the countryside around Brigsley is likely to be scarred by the pylons |
The pylons will also be conspicuous around villages both north and south of Louth |
