Mariners' fixture at Colchester called off after referee deems pitch too waterlogged for play

GRIMSBY Town's scheduled  match with  Colchester United has been postponed.

The Mariners team and fans were obliged  to turn back from the trip to Essex after learning that the crunch fixture - both sides are desperate for points - had been called off.

There has evidently been heavy rain in Colchester 

Following a pitch inspection, referee Carl Brook  made a decision - at 6.20 this evening  - that the pitch was too waterlogged for the match to proceed

No date has yet been fixed for the arranged fixture.
