Grimsby firm earmarks former Wesleyan chapel in Humberston for conversion to residential use

A fine building that has long since ceased being a place of Christian worship

THE Wesleyan chapel building in Humberston could be converted to a dwelling.

An application for change of use has been lodged by Grimsby-based Will Capital Ltd with North East Lincolnshire Council.

Says the supporting statement: "We very much that this application can be dealt with quickly, before anti-social behaviour begins.

"The Methodist Church are currently selling off many buildings due to underuse.

"They are keen that the churches are sold to individuals and organisations that will respect the buildings and be able to afford the upkeep and/or renovations as necessary.

"The church are keen to see this move quickly and our client fits their validity requirements perfectly."

Constructed in 1907, the chapel is not thought to be Listed, nor in a location prone to flooding, so a decision by planners should not be long in the making.

The proposed conversion  would incorporate a mezzanine floor
