COULD FORMER GRIMSBY YMCA PROPERTY BECOME HOSTEL FOR ASYLUM-SEEKERS?

Attractively-located building has 72bedrooms and sports hall

NEWS is expected soon on the future of the former YMCA building near the fire station on Peaks Lane in Grimsby.

Could it provide temporary accommodation for refugees while their applications for asylum are processed?

There is no word yet from commercial property agents PPH who are handling the sale of the 50-year-old purpose-built 72-bedroom hostel except to say that it is currently "under offer".

The building, which is set in mature landscaped grounds and has a sports hall, has been marketed as "a freehold opportunity with redevelopment potential, subject to planning consent".
