ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST - OR, IN THIS CASE, THE NOTORIOUS CLEETHORPES MUD

                                                                        

Even the toughest of 'off-road' vehicles is invariably defeated by the unforgiving Cleethorpes mud as the occupants of this Land-Rover discovered when they sought to cross the saltmarsh. Their trip ended almost before it began when their vehicle sunk ever deeper into the slime. Eventually, the retrieval efforts of the joyriders,  much besplattered from pushing and pulling, failed and they had to abandon ship. It remains to be seen when and how any rescue mission will be resumed. Meanwhile, it was last laugh to Nature because the saltmarsh, a rare habitat, is home to many unusual birds and plants including sea lavender which might have been damaged had the vehicle progressed further.
