AN American company with operations on the Humber Bank and at Tetney Lock says it has committed $1 million to Ukraine relief efforts.
"We are troubled by the events unfolding in Ukraine," says Phillips 66 boss Greg Garland.
"The fundamental safety and security of its people are at risk, and we support the strength and scope of the sanctions in place.
"We also recognize that this conflict is impacting friends and family members of our employees."
The Houston-based company is complying with the sanctions levied against Russia and will continue to comply with all additional sanctions should they be put in place.
Phillips 66 says it holds no equity interests or operations in Russia.
At its Humber refinery, the company processes light-, low- and medium-sulphur and acidic crude oils derived primarily from the North Sea.
It generates substantial quantities of gasoline, diesel and aviation fuels.
The Tetney Oil Terminal is the import hub for the smaller vessels which serve the Humber refinery.
