WILL PROPOSED 21-HOUSE DEVELOPMENT HARM COUNTRYSIDE CHARACTER OF SOUTH SEA LANE?

A LEAFY part of Humberston has been earmarked for a new housing development.

Lincoln-based company Jackson & Jackson Developments is seeking planning permission to build 21 houses - probably a mixture of detached and semi-detached - on South Sea Lane.

The site identified is at the top of the lane on a paddock and fields opposite South Sea Farm.

The application states: "Humberston is a highly desirable area for first-time buyers, young professionals and families, with detached and semi-detached dwellings proving especially popular.

"The proposed scale of development is therefore anticipated to make a positive contribution to the existing market demands for the wider Humberston area and will further support the village's ongoing development as an attractive village."

However, residents might have other ideas - as might the many people who use the top of the lane as a starting point for walking, jogging, cycling and birdwatching in a rural setting.

The risk is that a development of this size might harm the countryside character of this part of the village
