ABSOLUTELY FUMING! ASHTRAY' INCIDENT IN CLEETHORPES OUTRAGES COUNCILLOR

Cllr Procter - extreme displeasure

A NORTH East Lincolnshire councillor has expressed outrage following an incident in which a public sanitiser station in Cleethorpes was used as an ashtray by a member of the public.

Cllr Callum Procter, portfolio holder for tourism, heritage and culture at North East Lincolnshire Council, said: “I am very displeased to see this happening in our resort.

“Sadly, this is not the first instance of a public sanitiser station being used to put out people's cigarettes.

“These stations are in place for everyone to use to keep themselves safe."

Cllr  Procter, portfolio holder for tourism, heritage and culture, continued: “The virus has not gone away.

"I ask that people continue to follow the safety guidance - washing hands regularly, maintaining a distance from others and wearing face coverings when in shops or enclosed spaces.

"Please make use of the sanitiser stations provided - but definitely not as ashtrays!”

One business owner in Cleethorpes described the incident as being “disrespectful to the community”.
