COME AND HAVE YOUR NAILS DONE - IN THE GARAGE! BEAUTY SALON PLAN GETS THUMBS-UP

TEMPORARY planning permission has been granted for a beauty therapy business to be established in a prime Cleethorpes residential area.

North East Lincolnshire Council has this week approved conversion of the  garage at a house on Cromwell Road in the town to a salon for nail treatments, waxes and eyelash extensions.

However, this consent is for two years only to allow the authority to assess the impact - if any - on neighbours, some of whom say such a venture is inappropriate in this particular location.

The application, submitted retrospectively by householders Mr and Mrs D. Wood, did not go before the council's planning  committee, but was determined by a case officer under delegated powers.

Says the decision notice: "The garage is situated to the side and rear and as such is set back from the main street, Cromwell Road.

"Given that these works are set back and of a minor scale, they are not considered to cause detriment the street scene or the character of the area.

"The proposal would thus not cause any detrimental impacts regarding impacting upon the character of the area in terms of its design.

"Moreover the proposal would not cause any detrimental impacts to neighbouring residential amenity subject to a temporary planning permission to assess impacts of noise, odour and nuisance and subject to a planning condition to restrict the hours of operation to protect the residential amenity of the area."

The hours of operation shall not exceed those stated within the application form, namely: Mondays to Fridays - 9am until 7pm, Saturdays - 9am until 12pm, and; at no time on Sundays or Bank Holidays.
