The proposed fake - to be made of synthetic materials |
D-Day looms on the controversial proposal to install an illuminated palm tree sculpture on Cleethorpes' North Promenade.
Some regard it as a tacky plastic-made copy of what exists in places such as Blackpool and Las Vegas.
Others regard it as sublimely beautiful, inspirational and likely to regenerate economic activity along a neglected part of the front.
The application is likely to be approved at Wednesday's meeting of North East Lincolnshire Council's planning committee because there are no obvious planning grounds for it to refused.
In the meantime, a wag has installed a more modest (but more realistic) palm tree on the beach.
You decide which you prefer.
