ALMOST EMPTY IN GRIMSBY TOWN CENTRE AS - FOR THE SAKE OF THEIR HEALTH - FOLK CHOOSE TO STAY AT HOME

Mid-morning today outside Grimsby's main post office. The emptiness is a graphic reflection of townspeople's fears over coronavirus. Rather than being out and about in the sunshine, it seemed most residents were trying to keep themselves as safe as possible from the disease by staying at home. Lack of activity was also evident on public transport systems with trains and buses far less busy than normal. So far, it is premature  and perhaps even tasteless to estimate the economic cost to the area. The priority for all is to try to keep well.
