STUCK IN THE CLEETHORPES MUD!

The boat  just wouldn't budge - the scene this afternoon at the whale's tail rock groyne

A REMINDER  of the sticking power of Cleethorpes mud came mid-afternoon today when this small fishing became bogged down on a receding tide. Attempts to retrieve it on a low-loader towed by a Land Rover proved in vain when the tow-rope snapped. For a while, the  Land Rover, too, looked vulnerable - all spinning wheels but nil motion! It is not immediately apparent if the boat will be recoverable before the next high tide which is due at 10.30pm. The drama was watched by a small crowd of sympathetic onlookers.

All set to mount a rescue mission

But in vain when the tow-rope snaps
