RNLI billed £38,000-plus by council for lost parking revenue following delay in new lifeboat station project

They've started but they haven't finished - all quiet at the site of the new lifeboat station

THERE is still no word from the RNLI on a likely starting date for work to resume on building a new lifeboat station in Cleethorpes.

Nor is it yet known if it has found a replacement contractor to complete the project started by Tolent before it fell into administration earlier this year.

The delay are proving costly for the much-loved lifeboat charity.

It has already been billed £38,143  by North East Lincolnshire Council in compensation for lost revenue during the period that  32 of the promenade's lucrative parking bays have been unavailable to motorists.

Further monies might be sought by the council if the hold-up on the project continues into next year and/or beyond.
