Proposals for a licensed bar have upset those living above the premises |
STORM clouds have gathered over an application for a new bar next to a church on Cleethorpes seafront.
It is not members of the long-established Kings Baptist Church that have protested, but residents in the same building as the proposed drinkerie.
They fear the proposed Side by Side bar on Alexandra Road will generate intrusive noise and antisocial behaviour - possibly customers using the grounds of the church as an emergency public convenience.
One objector has warned: "There will be an increase in car movement and noise outside the property.
"The church frontage will become a urinal."
Another states: "Less than six foot above the property there are five flats where children stay and shift workers sleep.
"Not only would it affect our home life but music until the early hours would affect our work."
The following opening hours are being sought:
* Supply of Alcohol (on and off sales)
Monday to Wednesday 12:00 until 00:00
Thursday to Sunday 12:00 until 02:00
* Live Music
Monday to Sunday 12:00 until 23:00
* Recorded Music
Monday to Wednesday 12:00 until 00:00
Thursday to Sunday 12:00 until 02:00
The proposal is due to be considered at this afternoon's meeting of North East Lincolnshire Council's licensing committee which consists of Cllr David Hasthorpe (chairman), Cllr Daniel Westcott and Cllr Steve Beasant.
