'GREEN TOWN' GRIMSBY - A WELCOME ASPIRATION BUT THERE'S STILL SOME WAY TO GO

Eyebrows have been raised by the latest signage to be installed along the A180 approach road to Grimsby. Is it really a 'green' town? North East Lincolnshire has far fewer trees than other parts of England - itself a country with less leaf canopy than almost anywhere in Europe. What is more, Grimsby is a destination every year for the import from Korea and elsewhere of thousands of cars - not noted for being a green-friendly mode of travel. It is understood that the rebranding, which has been endorsed by the council, is the initiative of entrepreneurial Stallingborough company, Myenergi , which is at the forefront of energy storage research and production. Plaudits and good luck to Myenergi, but we need to hear more from NELC about its aspirations to 'green' both Grimsby and the  wider borough.
