Cllr Swinburn - works are 'crucial'
BUS stops in Scartho are to be upgraded for the benefit of passengers.
Engineers from McCann & Co will install sloped, raised kerbs at at total 10 bus stops.
The new kerbing should make using public transport safer and easier - especially for people with physical disabilities.
Work will take place at the following locations during January and February 2022.
Monday 10 January: Bus stop on Waltham Road outside the Village Community Centre. This will take around four days to complete.
Thursday 13 January: Bus stop on Springfield Road outside Springfield Gospel Hall – will take around four working days to complete.
Tuesday 18 January: Bus stop outside 15 Springfield Road – will take around four working days to complete.
Friday 21 January: Two bus stops on Springfield Road, between Bracken Park and Well Vale – will take about seven working days to complete.
Monday 31 January: Bus stop outside 39 Lavenham Road – will take around four days to complete.
Thursday 3 February: Lavenham Road between Langdale Avenue and the Springfield Primary entrance – will take around four days to complete.
Tuesday 8 February: Bus stop outside 50 Lavenham Road – will take around four working days to complete.
Friday 11 February: Bus stop on Coniston Avenue outside the shops – will take around four working days to complete.
Wednesday 16 February: Bus stop opposite 52 Coniston Avenue – will take around four working days to complete.
During the works, bus stops being renovated will be temporarily out of use, so passengers are advised to use their nearest alternative bus stop during this time.
Temporary traffic lights will be in place at each site between 7:30am and 6pm, to allow the works to take place:
Says Cllr Stewart Swinburn, portfolio holder for environment and transport at North East Lincolnshire Council: "It is crucial that we make our network of public transport services fully accessible to all passengers, especially to make journeys less difficult and stressful for those with physical disabilities.
"I should like to request Scartho residents' patience while these works are carried out."
