JUNIOR FOOTBALL CLUB SEEKS RETROSPECTIVE PLANNING 'YES' FOR CLEETHORPES SIGNAGE

Defensive football? The Cleethorpes home of Catenaccio JFC

RETROSPECTIVE planning permission  is being sought for the signs which have recently been installed at this access to the playing fields off Taylors Avenue in Cleethorpes.

Part of the site has been leased by the Tollbar Academy group of schools to Catenaccio Junior Football Club.

Note: 'Catenaccio' is the Italian for 'door-bolt' and also describes a tactical system of football which emphasises the importance of an effective defence capable of preventing opponents' goal-scoring opportunities.

The Grimsby News says: The signs are modest and not particularly conspicuous. Here's hoping, however, that they do not set a precedent for further advertising or promotional signage being installed along the length of the Taylors Avenue railings. Such an eventuality would blight a pleasant tree-lined approach to Cleethorpes as well as most likely giving great offence to the nearby residents.
