His Royal Highness - he will be greatly missed

TRIBUTES to His Royal Highness, Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh, were this afternoon being expressed by senior figures at North East Lincolnshire Council.

They follow  the announcement from Buckingham Palace that His Royal Highness  has passed away.

The Deputy Mayor of North East Lincolnshire, Councillor David Hasthorpe, said: "I am very sad to hear of the passing of His Royal Highness.

"On behalf of North East Lincolnshire, I shall be writing to Her Majesty the Queen to offer our thoughts and condolences.

"During his long career, Prince Philip was involved with hundreds of charities and organisations across the UK.

"Among other things, The Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme is something known to many young people in our borough, and is a fitting reminder to many of his life’s work.

“Our thoughts are with the whole of the Royal Family at this sad time.”

Leader of the Council, Cllr Philip Jackson, said: We are deeply saddened to hear the announcement from Buckingham Palace.

"I am sure the people of North East Lincolnshire will join me in paying their respects and remembering him and the work he has been involved in for his country over many decades."
