YOU WON'T DO VERY WELL WITH A TEAM OF DOGS! DID NEW MARINERS BOSS REALLY SAY THAT?

More of a bite than a bark? Paul Hurst

GRIMSBY Town's returning manager Paul Hurst may live to rue comments attributed to him in today's Press.

Following the pre-Christmas departure of Ian Holloway,  Hurst was back in the dug-out at Blundell Park on Saturday.

Alas, hopes of a "new manager bounce" evaporated as the Mariners lost 2-1 to high-flying Cambridge United.

Today, Hurst was quoted in the Grimsby Telegraph as saying: "Performance-wise the lads are trying - I love that.

"But there's an old saying - you can put a dog on the pitch, but you won't do very well with a team of dogs."

In the same report, Hurst reflects on what transfer activity might be taking place in the days to come.

So, these are very worrying times - not just for fans but also for many of the players who will doubtless have had their professional pride dented by the canine comparison.

Not an ideal situation to start the New Year - especially with Town slumped in the relegation zone and clarification still awaited on who now owns the club.
