The Gingerbread House - green light for alcohol with meals

A CONTROVERSIAL application by The Gingerbread House and Tea Room in Humberston to serve alcohol has today been approved by North East Lincolnshire Council.

Following discussion by members of the licensing committee, chairman Cllr David Hasthorpe applauded proprietor Nathan Taylor for his "vision".

He continued: "It is with great pleasure that we confirm your licence, Mr Taylor."

The decision will dismay some residents and the parochial church council who foresee problems.

But after thanking the committee, Mr Taylor insisted: "They will have nothing to worry about."

Following a suggestion by  by committee  member and ward representative Cllr Stephen Harness, a meeting is likely to be arranged where Mr Taylor will have the chance too address any community concerns.

"I would welcome that opportunity," he said.
