IT'S A HAPPY NEW YEAR - BUT ONLY IF YOU'RE A RAT ON CLEETHORPES SEAFRONT

The rodents seem to have made a cosy home for themselves  under the blue container

The return of lockdown spells a Happy New Year for Cleethorpes' expanding population of rats.

With fewer people on the streets, they can strengthen their territorial presence - at least until rodent operators arrive on the scene.

As last autumn, a particular stronghold of King Roland and his retinue is behind the Beach Safety offices on the other side of the prom from the pier.

Their main home appears to be underneath  a steel container structure where they can make themselves inconspicuous if danger threatens.

Making a dash for it - rat on the run
