MAJOR SPRUCE-UP OF THIS IMPORTANT PART OF CLEETHORPES IS SURELY LONG OVERDUE?

Not a flower or shrub in sight - and the brickwork is decaying

ONE of the busiest street junction in Cleethorpes is also one of the least attractive.

There is always plenty of traffic - both pedestrian and vehicular - at the point where Trinity Road meets Highgate and Sandringham Road.

But for the best part of at least 20 years, maybe longer, four walled flower beds have never been planted - either with trees or with shrubs.

What is more the brickwork is steadily eroding.

The area is within the Croft Baker ward whose elected  NELC representative are Labour's Kathryn Wheatley and the Conservatives'   Oliver Freeston and Bob Callison (he of 'Cleethorpes in Bloom' fame).

When they were elected 18 months ago, there were hopes of a spruce-up, but, alas, nothing has happened.

Forlorn and unloved when it should be vibrant with flowers

The Grimsby News says:  Why no action? It just needs one community-spirited resident to step forward. Failing that, why does North East Lincolnshire Council not act? It has the staff and resources to transform this important part of the resort into something a bit special. What is required is an initiative by one or more of the three NELC representatives. They were elected to enhance the ward, not to sit by and watch it deteriorate.
