SEAL STRANDED ON CLEETHORPES BEACH THOUGHT TO BE ON MEND AFTER ATTACK BY DOG

There are hopes that this seal will recover after being treated for dog-bite injuries having been stranded earlier this week on the beach near the Fuller Street bridge in Cleethorpes. Volunteers from Cleethorpes Wildlife Rescue and British Divers Marine Life Rescue came to its aid. Seals are vulnerable to a fatal condition known as canine distemper virus if bitten by dogs. Sadly, wild creatures - especially seals and shorebirds - are  constantly menaced by dogs especially those  allowed to run free by their owners.
